Design and creation of the installation Hábito de la levedad (Habit of Lightness) by Elsa Yranzo within the Espacio Iberia Aeroconsciente, presented in the multipurpose hall of Conde Duque Madrid during Madrid Design Festival 2020.
The piece, curated by the Centro de Detox del Consumo, proposed a critical reflection on contemporary consumption habits through contextual, experiential design and Food Design.
The installation started from a provocative question: “Among the measures to improve fuel efficiency, why don't we also think about the weight of food?”
On board, both smell and taste are diminished by altitude and low humidity. In fact, salt is estimated to be perceived 30 percent less. With this intervention, I wanted to invite visitors to directly experience the sensory and physical impact of food, and to become aware of its weight — literal and symbolic — in the aerial context.
